Supporting Justice Forum as part of the Citizen Lab’s Cyber Steward Network, we are making short films and conducting evidence-based research into the psychosocial impact of digital surveillance on human rights defenders.

This project is lead by Justice Forum. Investigating cases and working with web developers to produce an interactive map charting the imprisonment and rendition of hundreds of individuals.

Ninja Research acted as consultants to VICE News following the detention of three of their journalists in Turkey in August 2015. British journalists Philip Pendlebury and Jake Hanrahan were released following eleven days of detention, and their Iraqi Kurdish colleague Mohammed Rasool was released in January 2016. We provided investigative assistance to the American Civil Liberties Union on a ground-breaking lawsuit against two psychologists behind the CIA torture programme, and assisted with filming for an advocacy film published by The Guardian about the case.
